Karnataka is the home of the renowned Indian Institute of Science instituted by Jamshedji Tata. The State has produced scientists like Sir C.V.Raman as also engineers like Sir M. Vishweshwariah. A farmer from the State, Mr H.D.Devegowda, became the Prime Minister of India towards the end of the millennium. The State was the home of Tiger Tippu Sultan, whose legendary sword was a terror to the imperialist British. Tippu even sent contributions to the American War of Independence. In recent days, INFOSYS & WIPRO have placed the state on top in the world of IT.
Founded in the year 1980, Erin Consultants is located in Bangalore city, capital of the progressive state of Karnataka.
Because of the vision of Mysore Kings (Karnataka was called Mysore before the re-naming of the State), as also able administrators like Sir Kantaraj Urs, Sir M. Vishweshwariah and Sir Mirja Ismail, the State has a comparatively well laid out industrial infrastructure. Mysore had the first hydro-electric generating station as far back as 1906. These generators are still working.
Bangalore with a population of six-million, is the home for some of the largest public sector enterprises in India, manufacturing war planes, radars and sophisticated electronics, machine tools, earth movers, telecommunication equipment etc., existing side by side with a large number of private enterprises manufacturing engineering products, electronics, software and such technology items in addition to traditional items like silk, handicrafts, leather, etc.
Bangalore has become the home of Wipro and Infosys, among a host of technology enterprises. Texas Instruments was the first US Company to set up a 100% owned subsidiary in informatics. A large number of leading MNCs have their offices in Bangalore or a manufacturing set-up here. BPL Group, with the strongest SONY consumer durable brand name in India, has its HQ here. MICO, of the renowned German Bosch Group was one of the first large private sector enterprises to set shop here. UB Group, the liquor manufacturing major has been a pride of this city. Toyota and Volvo are here now. In most recent days, Biotech is now the in-thing in this garden city, While Bangalore has become the hot spot for IT & ITES. |
