Hassan Projects


ERIN FOUNDATION helped conceptualize the Hassan Industrial Growth Centre during its formative years. The first seminar on the Growth Centre was organised on December 10, 1993 and the Growth Centre project got a big push. This day-long event was inaugurated by the then Minister for Large and Medium Industries Mr Ramalinga Reddy in the presence of MLA Mr K.H. Hanume Gowda and MLC Mr H.C.Srikantaiah who was later Revenue Minister of the State.

The emergence of a farmer from Hassan, Mr H.D. Devegowda, first as Chief Minister of Karnataka, and later as Prime Minister of India, gave tremendous boost to the development of infrastructure at Hassan.

Several seminars and workshops have been organised by ERIN in Hassan. Honoured guests included Mr H.D.Deve Gowda, the then Chief Minister and Medium & Large Industries Minister Mr R.V.Deshpande and a host of Indian and overseas experts including Dr Marco Carretto of Italy, Mr Cliff Anderson of Ireland, Dr S. Rangarajan of ISRO and Dr Sira G Rao of ITI Ltd. 

Support from KSFC, KIADB, KSIIDC, Industries Department, SIDBI, CFTRI, ISRO, State Bank of Mysore, Canara Bank, ITI, BPL Telecom, Irish Telecom, Nokia and others, was obtained to organise programmes.

ERIN is committed to promote Hassan as a futuristic industrial location. We advise on locating projects here. We will gladly organise site visits and provide any required information.

Specific projects  recommended for Hassan:

  • Industrial parks for food processing and for IT related areas

  • An integrated tourism project. 

  • A potato processing unit, which was first suggested by noted social activist and leader of farmers, Prof. M.D. Nanjundaswamy.
